Hi, I know I might be a decade late to the party here, but I have a 12M which I only have the USER card for. As I replaced a grinder recently, it's been a huge pain to get the calibration right by manually adjusting the grinder so it doesn't feed too little or too much ground coffee into the press, either causing the machine to assume there are no beans or causing the press to be too full for water to be able to enter under pressure. I have managed to balance this dark art, at the cost of cappuccinos which appear to operate at a lower pressure in the press (As I understand it the travel and load of the stepper is used to first set the type of coffee that is brewing and then gauge if there are beans present respectively.)
My understanding is that the amount of coffee grounds that are able to travel through the grinder, based on the coarseness of the grind, then affects how the computer interprets the contents of the press. If it is either too much or too little based on the stepper motor load it will either say it is empty, or grind, attempt to press, throw out the grounds and repeat until the hopper is empty as the stepper load is too high before the desired travel for the coffee flavour is reached.
TLDR do you know how I can acquire a service card so that I can adjust the grinder with the stepper inside for this very purpose!!!
If I have smart card reader and a blank card, is there a way to read in the USER card, change some values and then write myself a manager/service card? The service department for the UK have been utterly completely useless, although they have told me any card will work on any machine.
